Project
Introduction: LCD's are fragile products,
especially during the manufacturing process. Built
in clean rooms, the inspection procedure is operated
through robot assembly which doesn't require need
human operation, but heavily relies on a stable
system to reduce the maintenance.
System
Requirements: The customer required a controller
that could control the LCD inspect automatically,
which led to the following requirements:
- An
embedded operating system for easier maintenance
and increased reliability.
- A
stable system that would not generate any dust in
the clean room.
- High
computing capabilities for vision inspection.

Easy to install various extension cards.
- Rich
I/O's to connect different peripheral devices.
Project
Implementation:
UNO-3074:
Intel Pentium M Embedded Automation Computer with
4x PCI, 1x PC Card
System
Description: The
UNO-3074 installed with a vision card can check
the LCD display quality and also monitor the manufacturing
procedure through various peripheral devices. The
system can operate without manual control, auto
recording the manufacture information, and filtering
out any failed units automatically. The UNO-3074
has various built-in abundant I/O's to fulfill different
requests from various devices.
Aside
from its abundant IO, the customer was thrilled
with UNO's industrial-grade design, specifically
with no internal cabling and supporting a wide-power
input. These features not only increase the reliability,
but also reduce the cost of maintenance. Moreover,
the PCI slot also leaves the possibility of future
expansion.
Conclusion:
Equipped with an Intel Pentium M 1.8 GHz
CPU, UNO-3074 features a fanless design with reliability
and high computing. Furthermore the compact design
with front access wiring makes it easy to install
in a cabinet and with four PCI slots it is easy to
install video or Fieldbus cards.
